Bansel Osteopathy is an osteopathy and holistic health clinic in Haywards Heath, Sussex, offering nutritional therapy to support energy levels and long-term wellbeing through personalised dietary advice.
What is Nutritional Therapy?
Nutritional Therapy is much more than just dietary advice. Nutritional Therapy is an in depth assessment; a deep dive into a person’s symptoms, diet, lifestyle and environment. It looks holistically at a client’s life and their health concerns or goals, making connections and putting the pieces of their health journey puzzle together for them. It aims to identify the root cause of symptoms or health conditions, what is driving them – and the changes, remedies or supports needed to resolve them.
This joined-up thinking and way of supporting the body is hugely beneficial and something not offered in current allopathic medicine – where symptoms tend to be viewed in silos with specific specialists, and no one is there to join the dots.
Who is Nutritional Therapy for?
Nutritional therapy is suitable for everyone. We all have individual symptoms and a specific health timeline which can be evaluated and supported. Diet, lifestyle and supplement advice is bespoke and tailored to the individual and their health goals. And any functional or genetic testing, can be run on children, men and women.
What Should I Expect?
The process involves completing a detailed health questionnaire and diet diary form online, when booking. These are analysed in depth before the consultation, by the practitioner. During the 60 minute appointment, the findings from the forms are clarified and elaborated on, and the recommendations are explained.
The practitioner provides an action plan, encompassing:
- dietary guidance
- lifestyle advice
- any recommended supplements if needed
- any functional tests if relevant and agreed to
- informative handouts if required
- next steps for follow ups
What are the Benefits of Nutritional Therapy?
- Full dietary and lifestyle analysis, with recommendations.
- Option of functional testing to support health goals further.
- Optional of Nutrigenomics testing (DNA testing) to support health goals.
- Bespoke personalised report with: diet, lifestyle, supplement, testing advice.
- Truly holistic – body and mind approach.
- Non-invasive, affordable and emotionally supportive.
What is A.R.T?
A.R.T stands for Autonomic Response Testing.
It is a comprehensive hands-on testing method developed by Dr Dietrich Klinghardt MD, which uses biofeedback from the body (measured through changes in the autonomic nervous system) to identify areas of stress, their causes, and how they can best be remedied.
A.R.T. is so called, after the autonomic nervous system (ANS). This controls functions in those parts of our body that we are not conscious of, such as: breathing, heart rate, digestion, immune function, sleep patterns and hormone regulation. It is ‘The Master Regulator of the Body’, and it is important to balance & support the ANS so that it can perform its functions.
Although similar to other muscle-testing disciplines, ART also incorporates the principles of biophysics and uses some specialist equipment e.g. light polarisation filters and signal enhancers. This equipment helps the practitioner to measure and amplify the coherent (or incoherent) light being emitted by the light field of the body (Biofield), and is used to establish whether the client is in “blocked” or “open” regulation at the beginning of the session, and also to identify issues or “stress” in the body throughout the testing.
NB: A person might be in blocked regulation, if the body is under stress and they can no longer self regulate and adapt to the stressor, in order to respond and restore balance. It correlates with the Heart Rate Variability test. A healthy body emits coherent polarised light, an unhealthy body or organ emits incoherent light.
What is Muscle Testing?
Muscle testing is a fast, very responsive and non-invasive way of having a direct conversation with the body. It involves testing a muscle against light pressure and looks to see if there are any changes in muscle strength. Muscle testing enables us to gather information and correct imbalances. Each muscle is related to an energy pathway called a meridian; each meridian is associated with an organ.
Testing the muscle tells us if the chemical, emotional, structural and energetic circuits of the body are under any stress. If stress is present, the muscle’s response will change just like a switch. In the same way, the muscle test is also able to tell us what will be beneficial to the body.
The 7 factors which can lead to, or sustain, illness according to Dr. Klinghardt and which will mostly be covered in all sessions are:
- Emotional & Psychological:
- Beliefs – Are your beliefs sabotaging your desire to be healthy and well?
- Applied Psycho Neurobiology (APN): Healing the impact of an emotionally difficult event that is held in the body unconsciously (somatically) and adversely affecting the patient’s health (coming in 2026).
- Energetic interference fields: injuries, scars, teeth and mouth, piercings, tattoos,
- Food Allergies and intolerances: (3-5 key foods. Full Add-on Test is available) e.g. allergies to gluten, casein, house dust, pollen etc. Or if Secondary Intolerances.
- Biophysical stress: EMR and Geopathic stress (stress caused by electromagnetic fields – disturbed sleep or workplace)
- Toxins and Infections: heavy metals, glyphosate and pesticides, and biotoxins (toxins from bacteria e.g. Lyme disease, viruses, parasites and mould)
- Nutrient deficiencies and beneficial nutrients: proteins, vitamins, enzymes, fats
- Structural:
- By testing areas of the musculoskeletal system experiencing on-going pain and discomfort, we can identify other related causes,
- By testing the dental area we can check for dental issues and TMJ
What happens in A.R.T sessions?
A New Client Initial ART session lasts 90 minutes or longer if paired with Nutritional Therapy. Firstly, we will go through my findings from having analysed your pre-completed health questionnaires and food diary, and we gain an understanding of your health goals and priorities. Then we carry out the testing. Finally, we discuss the findings and next steps at the end of the session, and I will follow up a few days later with relevant information, individualised handouts and next steps.
An assistant is used as an intermediary during the testing, because this provides greater accuracy – due to it preventing any transference between practitioner and client. Having a third person present during the A.R.T. session also provides a more comfortable and relaxing experience for the client, as they can mainly relax throughout the session.
Why do I use A.R.T as part of my approach?
- It allows an evaluation at the 5 levels of healing model
- Allows assessment if someone is in a place where they can heal or if their nervous system is overwhelmed (blocked regulation)
- Determines key stressors, the priorities and tolerated remedies with dosages
- Can test the body for resonance with an array of heavy metals, toxins and infections. Once issues are found to be causing stress to the body, can then test the best solutions /interventions to clear the stress
- Can pinpoint if any further functional testing is required
- More cost effective that starting with functional testing. Functional labs do not test the ANS, and do not help with prioritisation of things that come up, and may miss large stressors that need to dealt with first
- I use fewer supplements! Supplements can and do block regulation – Individual precision of supplements and dosages are key
